Key locations and species

The following is a listing of key locations within this sector that may be the most  productive based on past experience.  Also noted are species that are hard to find within the count circle and are possible within the habitat of this sector. Please don't 1imit censussing to just the areas mentioned, but consider them the most important. Cover as much of the sector as your time and energy allows.  Remember, if your party splits or moves to another section, please begin a new field card. Any constructive comments about this sector would be appreciated (i.e. too big or small, access problem, other key locations). Please note actual areas covered. Also note contacts for entrance onto private property.

SECTOR 36 - Baywood / Los Osos Streets

Primary goal is to walk and drive streets checking pines and other plantings. Sought after species include Red-breasted, White- breasted, and possibly Pygmy nuthatch Check mixed flocks of Chestnut-backed Chickadees and Bushtits for unusual warblers such as Hermit or Black-throated Gray. Check sparrow flocks for unusual species. Check concentrations of pines such as those next to Von's market.

South Bay Community Park - Check for sparrows. Check willow patch in open area northwest of park and coastal scrub around willows. Also check scrub across South Bay Blvd from Los Osos Jr. High.

Los Olivos Ave. - Check willows near Mountain View Dr. and other patches nearby. Watch for Wilson's Warbler.
