Remember when DDT was the huge deal in songbird deaths? There appears to be a new threat that is just as devastating, but harder to track: Neonicotinoids. The vast majority of this threat comes from the unregulated coating of seeds for this long-lived, water soluble insecticide that is finding its way into our waterways and killing off stream invertebrates upon which many birds rely.
