Sector 9

The following is a listing of key locations within this sector that may be the most productive based on past experience. Also noted are species that are hard to find within the count circle and are possible within the habitat of this sector. Please don't limit census to just the areas mentioned, but consider them the most important. Cover as much of the sector as your time and energy allows. Remember, if your party splits or moves to another sector, please begin a new field card. Cuesta County Park / Santa Rosa Park

Check both parks and Stenner Creek. Look for Dipper on San Luis Obispo Creek and flycatchers, warblers, tanagers, and orioles in riparian and ornamental planting along banks, especially adjacent to Sierra Vista Hospital. Search through flocks of bushtits and chickadees for oddities in the parks.

Check areas with mature plantings and feeders in residential neighborhoods.

Cuesta County Park - Check flowering eucalyptus, sycamores, and oaks along creek for warblers, orioles, and tanagers. Look for sparrow and junco flocks. Sage Sparrow was once reported on hillsides north of park.
